Bridgton

It was fun, and surprisingly peaceful on the Peak today and a good time was had by all with few exceptions. Congrats to the Crew that put this on and decided that Composite Body Street Rods belonged in Street Rods and not in Kit/ Reproductions.

The Moal's are a good outfit and have done an admirable job in turning this show into the potential good show of the Month with some great food and a timetable that beat many shows by hours.

There was however one incident that was witnessed by several people including myself. This incident did not detract from the show itself, but the way it was handled could have led to a much more adverse scenario had it been done to someone with a less temperate personality.

The incident mentioned was a member of the Moal's berating a participant about his vehicle. The vehicle in question was a Mopar Product in the Mopar Class and that should have been good enough. The vehicle was a potential 3rd or 4th place car and in a 5 or 6 car class it should have been just that. The owner was questioned in such a way, that it seemed like an example of a 21st Century Spanish Inquisition about the fact that the vehicle was a Road Runner Clone and needed to be labeled as such. The attitude of the Volunteer Showed a disregard for decorum or the feelings of the participant. The participant was virtually forced to change his placard which could be compared to being forced to drop your pants in front of a large crowd.

This could have been handled better and should have been, but I will not hold it against the Moal's or its leadership. It only showed that one member had the people skills found in Kindergarten Class. It should also be noted that the Member of Moal in Question, was also an entrant with a Mopar Product in the Mopar Class.

A Good Day all in all.

  1. Wow, didn't hear that one! So it goes......
Definatly a good show at a nice place with good people. All in all another one to add to the every year list.
A learning experiance as well, as I discovered that apparently Volkswagen has gone out of business as displayed by the VW truck in orphans..... and I thought they were doing so well. Maybe that punch thing got out of hand???Well, anyhow, a great time!

It was a good day on the mountain as you pointed out. Clone or not the Runner was a descent car. If we did this to all the clones there wouldn’t be as many SS Chevelles in the muscle car class.
On another note I went to Winterport on Sat. I also witnessed something out of the ordinary. First off I have to point out this is a judged show. I was there as one of the judges was going over a 1970 454 SS Chevelle. When he came up to the owner and asked him how he got the dent in the door. I went to the owners defense told the not so smart judge that there was no dent, it was the body from the fender into the door that is on all 1970 Chevelles. He told me he had been in the body business for 25 years. That would explain it. He retired before the 70 Chevelle came out. Maybe they should look for some new judges. Also the best Mustang got nothing in his class. The owner showed his class by saying nothing and smiling through the rest of the show (way to go Tommy).

This is really surprising that someone would pick on someone like Mr.Bray. The man has been repairing and restoring cars for longer than some have been breathing. I hadn't heard a bad word of this show until this. Maybe the clone who questioned Mr.Bray should have stayed home and then they would have had a perfect day.
