LD 602

Gasoline Not Approved
Legislation (L.D. 602) to amend the law regarding ethanol blended gasoline to provide that a sales and distribution prohibition would take effect if only 3 other states had enacted similar laws was not approved by the Joint Environment and Natural Resources Committee. Under current Maine law, 10 other states or a number of states with a collective population of 30,000,000 must enact a similar prohibition before the Maine law goes into effect.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

It comes with all the anxiety of an illness deemed incurable. It weighs upon you like cement blocks around your feet. It brings with it a pestilence like a plague from the Bible and the drama of a dime store novel.

The Car Show season is coming at us hard and fast. It travels at speeds that seem to take a lifetime but deceivingly will get here before you are ready. That last minute detail will be forgotten or not be to your liking. You couldn't get the Wax you wanted or you found a new flaw that will ruin your perceived chance at that all powerful $25.00 Cheap Ass Trophy.

Some will wonder why they do this year after year knowing that friends could be lost and feelings could be forever hurt. Ego's will be puffed up to an extreme or cast asunder like a fallen soul, all for sake of a plastic tube, faux marble and stick on brass plaque.

Yet we are smiling. We are glad that this thing called a Car Show is rushing toward us like an oncoming freight train. We are pleased with our efforts of polishing all our winters worth of misery away only to live through that drama we all know like that step child we loathe.

So get ready. It is upon us and it does not care who or how many it envelopes it's folds of drama, ecstasy and torment it is here until at least  September if not longer.

Welcome to the Car Show Season 2015

Once Again

Meaning I've written about this a couple of times and from time to time we need to remind ourselves about it.

I was born in the 50's and have no recollection of Elvis or Buddy or anyone else from those early days of "Rockin' Roll". I grew up in a home that was filled with Dave Brubeck, Tony Bennett and Frank. I grew up listening to the local AM radio stations which played mostly pop and had to sneak my little radio into bed at night just so I could listen to the "bounce off the atmosphere" AM radio out of Upstate NY just to hear Wolfman Jack.

I bought my first Album at the age of 13 and it was Led Zeppelin and my 1st 45 was Jefferson Airplane. Look around at a car show and this age thing is closer to the children of the 60's than naought and we still get that 50's sound crammed up our ass that my proctologist found a Sun record of "Blue Suede Shoes" on my last visit and said it was by Carl Perkins to boot.

I'm tired of things dated to before my time being played endlessly at every car show. I'm fed up with the idea that it's a 50's thing and we all need to use Brill Cream wear our jeans in a cuff smoke Lucky's and vote for Ike. I wasn't born yet. When Elvis was king I was still shitting in my Cloth diapers picking my nose and wondering what that thing between my legs was.

Play the Beatles, Rolling Stones or even some Hank Williams. 60's 70's and yes even 80's & 90's is now considered oldies and classic in the respective order of things.

Where most shows are on Sunday, how about some gospel in morning. How about some fast paced Gypsy Jazz or even some Celtic jigs. Anybody can  play music but the same music gets old and the 50's were before most of our time at least to really comprehend. Remembering our youth is one thing but trying to remember something that never was is torture.

LD 602 went to work session and has been sent to the House and Senate for vote. The Committee that had it in Work Session sent it back to the respective floors with a "Divided Report" which means it could go either way.

Here is a link to the Gov. site so that you may read all the testimony given and see the result yourselves.
