Got no old photos of long forgotten relatives or stuff like that. Got no juicy gossip or tall tales of daring do. Got a pile of snow in the yard and a calendar that says January is all but over.
On the legislative scene we have a couple of hits that are of concern. The first is an LD that wants the Antique Auto Plate criteria changed to include "Buses". The concern is whether its for the vehicle or the contents. Picture a 70 year bus filled with 80 year old women. It would look like a family pack of Q-Tips on wheels.
The second one is a slap yourself on the forehead LD. After working with the Road Noise Task Force and coming up with a plan that is going to work or at this point is working, somebody didn't get the memo. This one is to "exempt" Antique Autos from needing a Muffler. Well dip me in honey and throw me to the lesbians, this guy isn't even on the same planet as the rest of us and needs to have the depth of the gene pool checked. Brings a truer realization of WTF.
Meanwhile the All Clubs Social is fast approaching with the publishers of Cruise Maine hosting. We wish them luck.

Many of you have met Jim's sister Beth at different car shows over the years. Well she has passed away after a battle with cancer.
ROCHESTER — Elizabeth Dalziel Cook, 49, of Rochester, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at the Hyder Family Hospice House.She was born Jan. 19, 1961, in Pawtucket, R.I., the daughter of James and Nina (Lepuschenko) Peacock.Beth had been an obstetrical registered nurse at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for 10 years. Previously she worked in the labor and delivery units at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire and Hunt Hospital in Danvers, Mass.Beth loved spending time with her husband and son and always brought extended family and friends together for cookouts at the pool. Some of her favorite activities were attending Nathan's cross-country meets and plays, going to the beach, spending time with her friends and picking lilacs in the spring.Members of her family include her husband of 25 years, Jeffrey Cook of Rochester; her son, Nathan Cook of Rochester; brothers, James Peacock and his wife, Connie, of Dresden,Maine and William Peacock of W Gardiner, Maine; sisters, Jessie Thompson and her husband, Col. Charles Thompson of Alaska and Robin Beasley of Rochester, NH; nephews, Brian Thompson and Ryan Pierce.Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorials in Beth's name may be made to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Health Foundation, 789 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820 for the New Women and Children's Center. Oh My
As the winter drags on with all the warmth of a mother in-law, you sit and wonder what to do this weekend. There is Football but even that seems like a dull time as this is a bye week for the Patriots.
You could always hang out at Homer World and get arrested for molesting the PVC Pipe or leave a spittle sample on the window of the local trophy shop window.
Or you could get your depressed self to Bugusta for the Motorsports Show on the 7th thru 9th at the Bugusta Civic Center. Friday, January 7th 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Saturday, January 8th 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Sunday, January 9th 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It'll cost you $9.00 to get in the door.
Then for those that want that nostalgia stuff, there is the 7th Annual Mid-Winter Hot Rod and Drag Racing Nostalgia Fest in Hudson MA. Here they will tell tall tales of yesteryear and show some great videos of places that no longer exist in drag racing and are remembered by those that actually were there. Held at the Elk's Lodge in Hudson MA from 2 to 7 on the 8th. This one will cost you a dollar more than Bugusta.

It Never Sleeps
It's January 1st of 2011 and already the Car Show season is gearing up with 12 events already listed for the State of Maine. Legislation is rearing its head to allow the "Bus" to be included in the criteria for "Antique" registration plates.
The World of Wheels Show is moved in venue and date, to April 1,2 & 3 but still in Boston but about a mile from its previous place.
