MERRY CHRISTMAS to One and All

12/20/12

Ending

If the Mayan's are correct this will be my last post.

If they are wrong, you and your poor suffering ass will get to put up with my rants for just a tad longer. As the saying goes be careful what you wish for.

Well so far so good but the day isn't over yet.

Did anybody check to see how the world will end? I think it might be ending by Douche, it certainly is raining enough to think that. Confirmation would be a phone call from anybody named Noah.

If I was holding my breath waiting on this Mayan prophecy my head would have caved in about an hour ago. 2.5 hours to go. Only thing is if this doesn't come true I'll have to get ready to go Christmas shopping in the morning. What did you think I'd buy shit and put up with all these greedy fuckers for nothing.

Get real.

Somebody lied, the world still exists, I'm still writing this rag, your still reading this with your oatmeal, I have to go Christmas Shopping and people will suffer because of that.

And as I stood in a line that was 16 carts deep, with virus spewing, snot dripping, smelly little things that someone thought were children, a prayer for the end of the world crossed my mind. Then the light of reason came upon me and then I knew this was the end of the world.

THE ASS END OF THE WORLD.

Down the Road

Yesterday the 50 Olds went down the road to the original owners. This car is unique in many ways. First and foremost, it's a one owner 1950 Oldsmobile. Having remained in the same family and only being registered by the Grand Father of the present owners.

Early on Sunday we loaded it onto a trailer, actually we drove it onto a trailer. The sad droopy grill almost seemed to smile as it sat there, like it knew it was going home. We unloaded the Olds about a mile from it's home and drove up the street, honked the horn to wake up the neighbors and backed it into the garage.

As we left it sat there looking out the garage door, shiney as it once was. Chrome trim and black paint telling everyone passing by,  "I'm Back and this is my house".

This is once in a lifetime Barn Find. These are few and between. Could be one of the last we ever see in this area.

Stocking Stuffer

Just in time for your holiday season is this nice  1950 Oldsmobile Futuramic 88. This is the one just finished at the Hole in the Wall Garage.

The story is the vehicle was bought by a gentleman new, in 1950. It was taken off the road in 1965 and was never registered again. The original plates are still on the car.

The son of the Original owner inherited the car and intended to put it back on the road. That never happened and his children have inherited it, as he passed away 2 years ago.
I got called in to do a value appraisal for the estate and the next thing I know I've been asked to get it running.

This car is almost perfect in condition and had never been restored. Equipped with the 2nd year of the Rocket 88 303ci Engine and Hydramatic transmission, it cruises easily and rides like your couch.

Rebuilt parts that are original to the vehicle were used wherever they could be and after working on this car since late July, the only parts replaced are the Gas Tank and sending unit and the Water Pump as was expected for a car with only 45975 original miles.

After 41hours of labor and many more looking for parts it finally was completed this past Friday to the delight of the owners. They have decided to sell it and are trying to get the word out about it.

It will be with me until Sunday when it will get transported back to its home. After that it will asleep until spring. See it now or wait, thats up to you.

Crickets

The title seems to be the new catch phrase for this year, meaning quiet or nothing is happening as in " All you can hear are crickets".

But such is not the case as the Christmas season is upon us and let the mayhem begin with what is also known as the Christmas Party Season. Starting out with  the Rods & Kustom Cruisers humorously raunchy Yankee swap with inflatable wives, morphidites and oral gel and a narration of "historic proportions", you could say that a change of under garment from laughter would be in order.

Then you shift gears into a little higher brow humor and the Road Scholars Traveling Circus gave us a toilet paper dispenser, meditation rocks with fountain to promote your inner health and frequent urination and a fucking dancing Elf that pisses off the cat.

Other gatherings will pale in comparison.

On the News front are these little tid bits. A new director is being put into place at Owl's Head Transportation Museum. This could be a good thing as hopefully a better kinship with the hobby and its members would help us both.

Rods & Kustoms has a tentative date for their Rod Run in June and Tentative is the key word. Seems they are playing with another date that might be better in breaking up that clusterfuck of last year with the triad of Windham Togus Fryeburg on the same day. We'll keep you posted.

The date has not been set yet for the All Clubs Social but it is in the work according to the Rusty Nuts. Feburary is the month and in all likelyhood bath will be the place. On that note Cruise Maine has sent out an early e-mailing with notice for your club page and events.

No news on the Cruise Maine Crunch-o-Rama and the new owner of Oxford Plains Speedway getting their respective shit together on the future of events at that venue. Hopefully certain employees are no longer with that organization.

Rumor has it that a couple of clubs are trying to sit down with Maine Oxy to improve the venue and quality of that show. That would be good thing.

Bringing up the rear as usual is the Gray/New Gloucester Lions Car Show and the community fair that goes with it. Word has come to me from one of the Lions that the entire affair will be held on the Saturday of the last weekend of August. As it stands that should not interfere with any shows in the area, but you never know. Hopefully it will be warmer.
