Fever

Cold in the Morning was the way it started. But with a little action from the wood stove and a large amount of bodies it warmed every corner of the place inside and out.

The 11th Annual Cabin Fever BBQ was a pleasant way to spend the day and enjoy yourselves without anyone acting up or behaving badly, stuffing oneself with every gastro intestinal delight one could possibly think of and being with some great people.

With Car Clubs being represented from all corners of the state, it showed that "tiquers" and Tuners get along just fine and can find some real common ground with a burger and a beer.
Representing Road Scholars ANFB, Knucklebusters, Motor Menders/Maine, Downeast Street Rods, Maine Coastal Cruisers, Uptown Kruizahs and a large contingent of members from Team 207 and a few Lone Wolves thrown in for good measure, about 100 people ate, drank and had a good time.

Talk of upcoming shows, telling of tall tales, laughter and more laughter were the norm of the Afternoon. And many leftovers were given to all as they left for the day.

Today was an extremely excellent day, Glad I made it.

Good For These Guys

In the previous post I mentioned a blip on the screen. Here is Another.

A group from Madawaska is Cruising to Old Orchard. When I first saw this little blip I thought they were going to do the Old Orchard Cruise and Show. Thinking thats pretty cool, I put it away for a possible special event posting later.

Today, while cruising the the events schedules of about 20 other sites I found the date for the Old Orchard Show. The 2 Dates are about a month apart. The guys in Madawaska are doing it just to do it.

If you think about this, it would take The Old Car Tour a full 1.5 to 2 days to travel this Distance (approx. 360 miles) with a police escort. They plan on doing it in a day with stops in Houlton and Bangor and no escort.

So on August 6th these Cruisers are on the Road and Going back on the 8th. Here is how they have it down on the posting I found.

This Cruise Ride Will Begin In Madawaska Me To Old Orchard Beach. There Will Be A Group Leaving Madawaska At 6;00 Am Friday .We Will Stop In Houlton Big Stop...And Dysarts In Bangor If Any One Is Interested In Joining The Group And Your interested In A Fun Filled Weekend Just Send Me An E-Mail At wrcyr@hotmail.com And I Will Send You More Infor for The Events Taking Place ..Thanks wayne cyr.............

Updates and More Crap

In an effort to keep ahead of the wave of information that is an event calendar. I ran into this little blip on the screen.

Fast Eddies Cruise Night is on again this year, rumor said that due to a few miscues by some patrons last year they were not able to do it again this year. It will run every Wednesday Evening from June 2nd thru August 25th with Music either by DJ or Live Band.

Waterville also has a Cruise Night (news to me) that runs on Friday Nights from 5 to 8pm. Starting May 7th and ending October 8th all dependent on the weather. You can find it at the Faith Evangelical Church parking lot across from Applebee's and Shaw's

Now the Telstar Show has posted the date on Several Major Websites and it states "Call to confirm date and time." The date posted is its usual 3rd weekend in August with the 21st being its normal Saturday.

As stated on several sites including Road Scholars and Hotkarz, call to confirm the dates and show information. Shit Happens and changes go unnoticed sometimes.

Until next.

Weekend

It was good weekend, the Pontiac is very close to being ready for the season. The shop is not so close to being ready for the 11th Annual Cabin Fever BBQ, but it will be come the 28th.

Over at the Road Scholars Site there are a few new Dates and a few new Links. That thing is in constant Flux so keep an eye on it from time to time. A date that is new is the July 4th Show over in Wiscasset. Just goes to show you that the rumor that car show are dieing off is just that, a rumor. With this show, the Team 207 Show in Scarborough and the rebirth of the Windham Show after a year off, I think we can put that rumor to rest.

Cruise Nights are getting ready to fire up and as always they come with a myriad of music, food and personalities or in some cases a lack of all three. The only change of any note is the location of the Cruise Night in South Paris on Mondays. The Uptown Kruizahs have moved it to the Tractor Supply up on Route 26 rather than the Advance Auto Parts in the hustling, bustling Metropolis known as South Paris. Bigger digs means more Cars, means a bigger pot of Chop Suey, means more pies to auction off, means I'll probably show more often.

Like I said it was a good weekend and next Weekend will be better.

WoW=World of Wheels

Wow is an understatement. The World of Wheels /Autorama put on by the ISCA and its Sponsors was amazing to see and participate in as an exhibitor. From Thursday to Sunday or setup to tear down it was an exhibition in who had the most money or needed the biggest penis extension known to modern man.

3 guys from Maine went to the Big City with a 32 Roadster that they felt was on par with the average built rod found in Maine. When the boys got to Boston they were met by $75,000 to $150,000 Roadsters, built by big name professionals and owners who cut checks and not knuckles during the build. They soldiered on and set up their spot with cheap ass Carpet, Plumber Cones from the local Homies Depot with some Yankee engineering and Duct tape, they showed the Gold Chain Swinging Meat Puppet Masters that we don't use Penile Extensions to get the job done.

Awards came to the owner and leader of the crew of 3 in the form of OUTSTANDING IN CLASS and limpness filled the air except in the little corner of the Hall where 3 guys from Maine stood with smiles the Cheshire Cat would have proud of.

Egos, Posturing, Politics. All part of the hobby, but the 3 guys from Maine didn't remember that part or even acknowledge it until the Wee Hours of the morning on the way home.

Congrats to Paul Nadeau for representing the way it should be and bringing home an Award.

This

This is what I'm Writing about today. It has everything to do with anything in particular and is related to the Hobby. It has to do with a Car Show that in all its glory could be considered the "Best of the Best".

Auto-Rama/World of Wheels is an ISCA Show series that takes the guess work out of who is who and what is what. Its is a quality show, Run and Judged by paid professionals. We have yet to see such a Show anywhere in the State of Maine, and possibly never will.

They have display rules that we could use at most of our shows. They have a conduct rule for vendors and participants that we need to use at our shows. They have a rule I am going to call the "Frankie Bagadonuts Rule", which says you can't leave until after the awards are presented.

Yes its in Boston. Yes its a big city. Yes its possibly the best run show you will ever see.

The show runs Friday 5:30PM to 10:30PM, Saturday 10AM to 10:30PM, Sunday 10AM to 7PM. Get out of the House, see a real show. The Boston Expo Center is going to be hopping.

A Question of Posting ...

A question was put to me as to why the Road Scholars Site doesn't post cruise nights. Good question. But its like asking why is Grass Green or the Sky Blue.

It seems that over the year Cruise Nights have proliferated the area known as Maine like overly hormonal Rabbits that love doing the horizontal mambo in hyper speed. The weekly cruise Night are at every Mom and Pop store, Burger Joint and Slightly out of the way venue known to modern man. These change days and dates as if they were soiled diapers.

Everybody has their Favorite and some are timid to shy away from the normal routine. Some prefer to stay close to home as their favorite Cruise falls on a work night. So my question is this, Is a Listing really needed? I don't think so.

But if you look and read the events Calendar on the R.S. site there are Cruise Nights listed. The ones listed are the Monthly Cruises that are bigger than the weekly cruises and 9 times out of 10 are better organized with a few weekly exceptions. Or even the once a year cruises like Berlin NH are listed (when I get a date).

As far as Cruise Nights go they are a ways off but the season is coming closer everyday. C.H.O.P. is gathering another monthly crew on Tuesday and the World of Wheels is next week.

Remember make it fun and it will be, Make fun of it and its hilarious.
