No Rain in Brewer

We did Brewer Days this past weekend and never got wet with anything more than a mist. This show benefits the Boy Scouts and Troop 15 in particular. They had 133 registered vehicles and a great crowd with some dam fine cars and trucks.
The Awards (the $25.00 Cheap Ass Trophy) are all old trophy's that have been rehabilitated to a new purpose and the 1st place trophies are made from old parts by the scouts themselves.
Great time and a good little show that is well run and virtually drama free.

Something is Returning

So I understand from a certain Blog that disappeared that it will be returning in the spring. It also states that he will have a Porch (personal spelling) as his latest entry into the car show scene.

You are correct in your assumption. Hot Karz is back with his latest entries here . Stating the usual drivel about the "old boys network" and more political stuffing than dressing up a Thanksgiving turkey's ass.

We will see if what he says is true and yes I will battle his opinions when battle is called for, but peace and tranquility will rule until then (blatant lie).

My only concern is that he once came upon the scene and everyone thought he was some messiah to save us from ourselves. When we started to call his bluff he started to be belligerent when he was cornered on an issue. When he disappeared the stated cause were health issues but those seem to be on the mend or perhaps by some miracle cured. I hope people realize that he is not the second coming and I am not Satan for stating my opinion about him.

Be aware, be wary, it could get scary.

Allies

From the time we met in the Halls of the Bugusta Capitol Building we knew we would be allies and friends. I asked him for his help via e-mail about some legislation at a public hearing and there he stood with his hand outstretched, a twinkle in his eye and a Cheshire cat grin. Because of his involvement that day he was asked to be in the working group that hammered out the Custom Car plate we now have today.

Another friend made in the finest hobby in the land. Eventually he became a member of the NSRA Safety Team and kept the Other Maine on the up and up. When the Road Scholars formed he was in the crew before we were a crew. His love of ANFB was almost legendary and having him and his wife in the club was pure delight.

Through our travels and over the years we became more like family than friends. My issues became his and his mine. We fought some good fights with his words and my voice and battled everything on the political scene together. When he retired he moved to Florida and asked the State Police to give his position on the Motor Vehicle Advisory Board to me, a position that I still hold.

His health took a dive and the Big C took over his day to day living and at one point it looked like he was done. Somehow his stubbornness fought through and rallied for a win and his life was almost back to normal. We were back in the saddle and riding hard last year like we did back in the beginning. Then as always the Big C came in and kicked him in the balls. The last time I saw him was 4 weeks ago and the body was a shell. His spark was alive and well and that smile was pasted on his face as always.

We sat and talked for hours and I could see him tiring, but we drank 3 fingers of Kentucky's finest as we always did. In our conversation he stated that "probably 4 to 6 weeks" and we got a little watery but moved on. We eventually said good-bye and we both knew that it would our last but never shed a tear.

He left the planet on Friday.
