I was told today that I needed to post something on here. So here goes.
Last week my shining personality played a part in the Hodgman's Show. It came to pass that some Trophy Poachers thought they could change class. Wrong.
It has been a policy of the Knucklebusteres since 1999 that once assigned a class that is where you stay. As the Knucklebusteres were a little short on members, the Road Scholars were asked to lend a hand. It came to pass that I was asked to handle the Situation and I did. They got their money back and left, with burning ears and bruised ego's. The only mistake I made was a poor choice in language and for that I will apologize to all that heard said profanity except the 3 Gentleman (loose translation) that it was aimed at.
Enough Said.
Today I went to Steel's Real Rods & Customs for the little gathering they had. What sweet location on RT.1 and a good turnout it was, with 50 or so cars and trucks. They do this every Wednesday evening and cook some great burgers or so I'm told. The owner decided he didn't want to cook today. But on the 10th of July (Saturday) starting at 10am he will be having a Car Show and Street Dance with awards in 3 Classes, Music, Free Admission And Free Passes to Wiscasset Speedway for Sunday's Burnout Contest. All the details are on the Road Scholars Site at http://roadscholars.webs.com
Tomorrow is the 21st edition of the Penquis Cruise In. Put on by a fine bunch of Cruisers who really get it right year after year. The hustling bustling Metropolis of Milo ME plays host to this Cruise In every year and thoroughly embraces the day.
Anyway I'll be there and not Harrison so let me know how that was for you. I'll let you know how my day was. Today was Cool.
Till Next

All I will say is THANK YOU not from the Knucklebusters though suppose it's appropriate, but from the rest of us who strive to put on a decent and fair car show. Contestants must understand that when placed, that is where you shall stay no matter if you think it's equitable or not. Hope I make some sense!!
ReplyDeletePW hit it on the head. They were placed, tried to poach, were asked to return to where they were placed, were rude and got dealt with accordingly- Nuff Said!
ReplyDeleteAs for Harrison, I will put my observations in 2 categories: Pros and cons. (These are MY opinion....)
Pros. Good food, Les as dj played the standard cruisenight/car show fare, with some other stuff thrown in the mix for a good balance, nice park to have a show at (though a little crowded) GOOD FIELD LAYOUT/organization, helpful staff, good friends and the weather held.
Cons. Although they tried to class cars at the gate, it seemed they were maybe a little short on knowledge as to what some cars were. I saw a mostly stock datsun Z in the foriegn class(good) and similar vintage modified one in b/o 70's (WTF?) a mustang in b/o 80's/^- even though there was a Mustang class (mustang is a mustang, period!)A fiberglass mercedes replica in foriegn (this has happend repeatedly) and his maxwell street rod in special interest (REALLY GETTING OLD)as well as a certain wood-esque clad ride we all know and love, and is about as special interest as my daily driver Focus, pulled up in the I want my troph..er.. S/I class. A Zephyr Street Rod in the best of the 40's, oh wait he moved to S/I.... basic poach techniques. A shame to the army jeeps and kit cars that actually tried to be fair and go where they belonged. And then there was the judging.... in my opinion, questionable at best. As I've said, the example set forth by the knucklebusters last week should be emulated by more organizations, Competent gate staff, split ballot, and no BS taken, DEFINATLY makes for a great show!
But that's just MY opinion.
