I wasn't at Da Vinci's long enough to really say it was a good day. But I did have a good time for the couple of hours I was there.
With about 20 cars there, wait my mistake, with about 5 trucks and the rest being cars and 1 Mini Cooper (it not being big enough to be a car) turned out for great food and a slightly breezy, warm in the sun afternoon.
At some point in time I spoke with just about everybody and by one I was asked a very good question to which I did not have a good answer. Imagine that, me without a good answer, it must be an end of the season thing.
The discussion was on the subject of trophy hunting and I was asked, that if I professed that trophies were not important, Why do I register. Is it to help support the car count or is to take a chance on getting a trophy? I don't have an answer. I know at the Mid Coast show they really get pissed if you don't and at most shows the registration does have the count. But perhaps I am a closet Trophy Whore who really needs a fix of plastic tubes and glittery shit with doses of marble blocks. I am at a loss to really give a legitimate answer.
But I will ask this question to the one that asked me. If you are not in it just for the trophies why spend half the morning cleaning and why accept the trophy at all? By my count its your 200 trophies to my 1 or 2 over the past years. So I think I'll keep registering and hold off on the trophy detox center for now.

I also was at the cruise-in at Da Vinci's and I was one of the first to get there and one of the last to leave as Norman,Robbie,Nancy and I are real party goers as you know.It was a very good day.But as I sat there next to the biggest rival I have come up against in my showing career,I thought this is the way it should be chairing your detailer and cleaning tips with each other going to lunch together and not worrying about the vote or the judging or how to get more than then the next guy.As I said to the big guy that has become a very good friend maybe we should do it this way.Throw away the voting and judging and just get together for a laugh and burger on Sundays. One hell of a good time was had by us and I believe the rest that was there.

I also had a really good time at DaVinci's and totally agree that the laid back, non competitive attitude that was present was WAY more enjoyable. It seemed that everyone there had a good time, and it was really cool of DaVinci's to give each car owner a $5.00 off card to use towards lunch (where else are you going to get Italian like that for under $10.00-with tip!)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a show paid us to bring our vehicles out!
Anyway kudos to DaVinci's for a good, drama-free afternoon and a good little turnout despite the fact that almost no advertising was done- lets hope this stays "L/A's little secret"
