Today about 300 cars, trucks, rods, tiques, and every means of enclosed conveyance, along with about 150 motorcycles invaded a Federal Facility without violence or resistance.
This Invasion was the Annual BBQ at Togus VA Hospital that the Rusty Nuts Car Club does to Honor the hospitalized Veterans who defended our right to gather and fought for our Country so that we have the Freedoms we know as America.
Leading a group into this event was a pleasure and seeing the faces of the rookie participants was absolutely priceless.
Nothing I can write would do this event justice. You really need to be there, as a description would be inadequate.
It wasn't about us. It was about them, the veterans.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Definatley a nice relaxing DRAMA FREE event. My bum tooth stopped me from partaking in the BBQ, but from what I heard, everything was great! It seemed to me anyways, that even more cars showed up this year than last, (i thought I heard 300 from someone?)but kinda tough to tell with the construction.
ReplyDeleteIts also pretty interesting to see who dosen't show up when no trophies are awarded (noted a few regular show attendees who were absent)
As anonymous said, it is a GREAT HONOR to participate in this event, as seeing the faces of some of those veterans is really better than ANY $15.00 CAT! Good Job Again Rusty Nuts!
It's taken a whole day to come up with the words to describe my feelings about yesterday and EVERYONE knows I'm seldom at a loss for words :-) I was absolutely at a loss and that's all I can say other than next year I'd like to get there earlier so see and hear the motorcycles come in and just maybe get up high enough to take some pictures of the WHOLE field. Thanks you for showing us the way there and back. Everyone needs more days like that and most of all THANK YOU to the Rusty Nuts.
