a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words, as Wac from Women's Army Corps, OPEC from Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or loran from long-range navigation.

The military is the most perverse user of the acronym by far, but as technology has crept into our society at a rate that land speed racers are proud of we use them everyday. In texting, sexting, twittering to your tweets peeps props and crops. We see them in e-mails, LOL -Laugh Out Loud, ROFL -Rolling on Floor Laughing and so on.

We have used them off and on for years with FUBAR and SNAFU being used in a normal way without causing concern of being obscene in public. Its not obscene if you don't know the meaning of Snafu and Fubar. Snafu = Situation Normal All Fucked Up, Fubar = Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. So now you see how obscence it really is. Thats why we usually laugh a little when we use them.

But now we use them here in our blogs on a regular basis. Postings titled over at Hotkarz, OOB being a prime example and both he and I adopting CHOP in recent postings for a substitute to Cumberland House of Pizza.

With them being used by government agencies its only a matter of time before language will be AKA and communication will be FUMTU. For years many of us have had FAQ's about this and have asked them to KISS. But like any and all things, they have looked at us and said "DILLIGAFF". If you are doing something out in the yard and get asked by a neighbor a more than obvious question you can wave them off and say GASP or say to your self WTF. On Tuesday's you can come to the RASH and get a burger

I'll list the meanings below and some are obvious but some I couldn't figure out for a little bit. Be prepared some are off color and I kept it as clean as possible.

Hopefully the next generation won't be born with abnormal thumbs and real language will survive. If not I'll become a PITA and wave a giant FTW flag. Half way there already.
