Acton is that, and just that. They have always done it that way and hopefully always will. With a no Class format and 3 guys picking the winners its a bet things are pretty laid back.
I could have gone, as my family thing was cancelled. Probably because they found out I was coming to it. But the wife and I decided to catch up on some yard work in the warm sun. So the info I have is from Big Mike and this is what he says.
"Went to Acton today. Very cool show, a TON of cars I've never seen (including some SIIIIICK old school rods/kustoms)and the fact that there were no classes and 20 trophies for the entire show kept the trophy poachers away and sent the ones who showed up packin'!(Literally- a few showed up, and left within minutes!)SSDD (a new one for your acronyms!)The only funny thing I saw was the fact that the organizers were charging $15.00 for a spot in the "Car Corral" for people who had cars for sale, and donations for entry into the show for the people who wanted to show. I must have seen 15 to 20 cars on the show field with "for sale" signs. Again, another case of people trying to screw the system! Too bad, as it was a slap in the face to the organizers, who did a hell of a job putting on a show, and had some really nice trophies to give out (between those and the fact that they will have to ship about 80% of them to the winners as they apparently couldn't wait to get their trophy in person, they probably LOST money)Probably are the same people who piss and moan the loudest when a good show goes away! Oh well, voice is getting hoarse from screaming at the proverbial wall, thanks for recommending this show, I will definitely go again next year! "
Thank's Mike. Sounds like a good show again and next year I'll Plan Better.

While on the subject of "good shows"....
ReplyDeleteDon't know if you want to pass this on, but just got back from the Cruise night at Pike's Corner Oasis in Livermore Falls- What a cool cruise night that was! They had a live band (Matt & The Barn Burners)playing blues/rock and as always, were encouraging hole shots (even a LFPD cruiser roaming around didn't stop em'!) They also had pretty decent Cruise specials (I paid $4.00 for a cheeseburger and dog on the grill and for once, the weather held and about 50 to 75 cars showed up! The organizers are really trying to make a go of this cruise night, and will try to have live bands a few more times this year- so if your readers are looking for something a little different on mondays......
