Get Real

Just to let you read something not blatantly unbiased a recent posting over at the other guy's blog ( the one who posts about every 5 weeks at Hotkarz) might prove a little entertaining and as biased as a 1960's tire. I agree that the "newbie" has probably been turned off by being bitched at or feels that his or her car is better than all the rest (don't we all?). Possibly if they wouldn't compete and made the best of an antiquated system and actually enjoyed themselves while watching all the trophy whores scramble for that all powerful $25.00 Cheap Ass Trophy they may have a better perspective.

As told to me by others, car shows haven't gotten any better and I agree. I've been here in the state going to shows as a participant since 1992 and I am not part of this supposed "Old Boys Network". How can I be, as I don't vote and refuse to be voted for? Many in my circle are doing the same and are realizing we have more fun.

Changes to the system are needed, we all know that. Some of us refuse to admit it but they know it needs a change. The changes proposed in the past were almost dictatorial in nature and the approach used was from an outsider who entered into this hobby stating he had all the answers but never showed the credentials to back it up. This is in all likelihood the reason we stopped listening to him.

There is more to this hobby than car shows, cruise nights and anything that is organized as a display. There is the road trip with others that usually garners you more comments than you normally get because the people are actually admiring your vehicle. There is the "hang out" night at your local establishment that was started with a phone call an hour before that brings back better memories than some station wagon. There are fundraisers that help others and raise money for the needy and charities that really are charities.

To the person who posted over at Hotkarz about being disgusted by the politics involved maybe you need to step up your game and stop blaming the old boys. It is what it is and you can either make the best of it or feel slighted. If your not concerned about the trophy or the win, why all the bitching.

If your main reason for being in the hobby is that award, your in the hobby for the wrong reason. If your need for the Trophy outweighs your love of the Automobile and all the history that goes with it you can jump over to another hobby because you got it wrong.

What if they gave a Car Show and nobody voted?
