The rumor mill says that the Wells Show was good and had a few surprises in the Awards area. Congrats to the winners. But what is this Play I heard about???
This weekend is the old War Horse, Bonney Eagle, which in years past has been a thoroughbred but now seems destined for the plow. From Premiere to Ordinary would be a good adage. Expect the crowds, the mix master called "Classes" and possibly a decent swap meet area. But not much else except the Traffic Jam when you leave. It's turned into every other show, only larger.
Also this Weekend is the NSRA Appreciation Day in Lebanon ME at Duckworth Automotive. Geared for the Members of the NSRA its a chance for the Hot Rod guys to get Safety Inspections and the Camaraderie that comes with the territory. It's Free to Members and a Pot Luck Lunch will be served. Bring some food and share.
In all likelihood this will be the Last Year of the Hodgman's Frozen Custard Show on Father's Day. It is sad to say but this perennial favorite is lacking Manpower and has relied on several organizations to get it through the day in the past few years. The Knucklebusters have done a hell of a job and will continue on with the members left as a Club, but no longer feel they can put on the Quality show the Hodgman's Frozen Custard Show has been. The Hodgman's have stated in the past that when the Knucklebusters give it up then the the Show will done, for good.

Fond memories of both shows.Slogging through ankle deep water at BE or being parked a mile away for the rest of the show. This was always the start of our season up until a few years ago (10 to be exact). Hodgmans will alway hold a special spot whether it be pouring rain or awful pollen - doesn't matter. AFter that show one year, I got to drive a rag top home to Poland (thank you Tim will always remember that day as it made Danny Libby jealous)Also thanks to Bill Miller - great competion with his 87 Grand National and a VERY great friend. To this day haven't seen another GN to compare. In other words met some folks who have a VERY special place in our hearts and life. Folks we can and do consider FRIENDS. Never been to Duckworth Automotive - ARE WE OLD ENOUGH?? Maybe someday soon we'll stop in as I'm sure there will be someone there who we know. Wouldn't trade these last 15+ years for anything! OK Mr. T keeps track of that stuff :-)
