Up before the crack of dark, on the road by 5:45, in Windham at 6:35 and moving toward Stratham, NH. before realizing that no heater in your car will turn your testicles into Grapenuts. That was a fucking revelation.
Stratham Hill Car Show was a little different at first but settled into a good little old fashioned Car Show with all the Melodrama found right here at home. Misclassified vehicles and trophy poachers were found and had the audacity to call Ken an "Asshole" so the Street Rod could stay in the 40's Antique class. Here is another fucking revelation, don't involve the NSRA Official who really doesn't like poachers. Into the correct Class they went (yes there was more than one)
Today was a great time even with the numb skulls. Some great cars with a totally different atmosphere were seen by all who attended and it seemed that a lot of Maine cars took home trophies.
The ride there and back was great and we actually got there and back without paying a toll. With a stop on the way for bladder management and ending our trip at the Blast From The Past Diner made it a great time. Seeing old friends and making new ones was just as much fun as the show.
Thanks Ken, Dick, Roxy, Steve, Nancy, Brad and Chrissy(with ankle biters) for making this little trip just that much better.

Let me guess, Zephyr? Went to winterport on saturday for my first time. Really liked the show, cool to have some entertainment in the form of badass rides flying down the track old school style! Theres something about the smell of burning rubber in the air all day that warms the heart! As for the judging, mostly right on, with a couple of questionables, and one MAJOR bad call.... There is no way an 07 GTO (99% stock)and another 2000's car was nicer than Tom and Debs Monte. You all got robbed! The tropy presentation was cool too, as each winner was called to the tower, given their trophy and allowed to make a pass down the track (slow and mellow, or with tires blazing-way cool.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jimmy on his "Trifecta" Best Muscle Car, Best in Show, and Peoples Choice with the Sattelite- (a first in Winterport history we were told) I don't care if your into trophies or not, that is a HUGE accomplishment! And by the way, Jimmy did THREE 2-gears down the track, lest anyone thinks that isn't a DRIVEN car!
Were going to go to stratham on Sunday, but went to Bently's Saloon in Arundel for their last hoorah of the season. Another place I've never been, as I didn't even know they had a cruise in! Cool place, great food, and about 125 badass rides, some I've seen, and others I had never seen. A fun, laid back, DRAMA FREE day, and another event I plan on for next year. Anyway, glad all had fun, and we'll see ya at the last 2!
It was a great day spent with friends, with only two cars in thee 8o's class Deb and Tom should have joined us.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
We would have except that all the info we had the "80's" class was "70's and up" - shades of Farmiington. So sorry you had a run in Ken guess it takes people to make the world go around. Hope he/she thought it was worth it. And while I'm at it, thanks Mike for the vote of confidence!!! Great seeing everyone on Saturday and the day was good except I could have done without getting up at 2:30am and the 2+ hour trip one way. Oh well! We'll add our congrat to Jim also - JOB WELL DONE!! We'll be off to Maine Oxy on Saturday as Mr. C isn't too thrilled about another 2+ hour ride and New Gloucester the following. Oh and congrats to Robby and Norman for the great showing in Boston!! You both ROCK. Hugs to all - Deb
ReplyDeleteWe did have a really great cruise down and back. It was windy and cold, but I thought the Boy Scouts did a great job getting through the trophies. They had very good cheese burgers and fries. There were the problems, but they were all well handled. I am really glad I was part of it all.
