10 minutes from the Show and I roll in at 9am to see one Car in my Class. I registered as always but today knowing it was a judged show and having seen an unmarked car judged at Belgrade I decided to keep the Show Card in the window.
Earl was a bust and the day turned from clammy to bearable to down right great. The Church put on another great show and did a good job again this year both at the gate and at the tables. The turn out was a bit lower much to the chagrin of the organizers but quality vehicles were in attendance.
After the 10am registration closure was postponed to allow a bigger count of attendees , which made sense from the standpoint of the organizers as this was a fundraiser. Some participants took exception to this and voiced their concerns to them and it was duly noted.
The Judges were as good as could be expected without payment and ALL cars were judged in the same manner without exception. Including mine. Some felt cheated by the late arrivals and rightfully so. However "They" Can Not say that these late arrivals didn't deserve to be judged or that the late arrivals were not deserving of being awarded a trophy if they were better vehicles than the rest of the class. This was a Judged Show. If the late arrivals got trophies at a participant vote show then we would know the fix was in. But that was not the case.
As the day wore on more Street Rods were entered and judged and I should have done what I have done all year and thrown my card in the back seat but didn't. Somehow the judge in my class either through hysterical blindness or total mental ineptitude picked my car for 1st place.
After being awarded my own 1st Place $15.00 Cheap Ass Trophy, I feel the organizers were cheated themselves by being given a $5.00 Cheap Ass Trophy instead and being told it was a $15.00 Cheap Ass Trophy by their supplier.
Thanks to all for making it a great day. Good Job to the Pathways Vineyard Crew.
