In the last post I made the statement that if you have a vehicle at least 30 years old it needs to be Registered as either a Street Rod or a Custom if it has been modified. I need to clarify the term "modification","modify",etc.
If the outward appearance has been changed in a major way IE hole in the hood for a Blower that would qualify as a modification. If the "banger" has been replaced with a "rat" that qualifies.
However if you have upgraded the brakes from mechanical to juice, that is allowed as it is a safety upgrade and thankfully most owners are smart enough to do it. Seatbelts are another that would be allowed.
A certain Camaro from the Windham Area has a Fuel Injected Engine and the owner had to argue with the town office to get it registered as a CUSTOM, because it had been MODIFIED.
If you want to build a car and dump $20,000 in the build and have it pass a safety inspection, Congratulations to you. But then again if you build it and it won't pass, you need to think about a new hobby.
It is a fine line as far as modifications go and we are always careful when walking that line.
Its when you subsribe to the theory that looks and coolness outway safety is when you are endangering us all.
Build it right and it might be safe, build it safe and it will be right.

I don,t think changing a motor make a custom. This is what we run it a show. Change the paint , put on wheels or a motor make you a modefied not a custom Change the way the car BODY looks, lights ,chop the top, remove the door handles remove the chrome and move it around and most of us use stock under sides CUSTOM are not HOT RODS
