OK, its early in the year. The seasonal schedule is not even close to being available, but already there have been some changes.
You see the powers that be at Goodguys (a car organization started by a malcontent) has seen fit to move the Rhinebeck NY Show (18th East Coast National) from the normal September date to the dates of JUNE 26, 27 & 28. No big deal, it seems to make it easier to go to both the Goodguys event and the NSRA event that remains in September.
Now for the ripple effect, Right Coast (yet more malcontents) has decided to make even bigger changes. The event of mention would be the Laconia Nationals, now known as the Granite State Nationals, formerly located at the Gunstock Ski Area (crap location), has been moved to the Moultonborough NH venue of the "Castle in the Clouds". The date is no longer the Late in May date that was, but now is August 14 through 16.
This would be no big deal but this is about the little guy getting his ass run over by the big corporate bullies that think they dictate the way things are.
The BIGGEST Rod Run in the State of Maine is on the weekend of August 14-16 and has been for years. It is put on by Downeast Street Rods, (the best of the malcontents) for the hotrodders from near and far, who drive, who party, who have fun no matter where they are. But now the Big Corporate Cookie Cutter Car Show types have danced their little pencil neck dance and landed on them.
My hopes are that Downeast will stand it's ground and thumb their respective noses at the corporate bullies and have the Best Rod Run ever.
Now maybe we can move Christmas to July and have fireworks in October...

I'd rather go to the Downeast Rod Run than to some fancy show.
