CORRECTION

I have been informed that the $7.00 Fee at the Stratham Hill Show is for Pre-registration only and a $10.00 fee on the day of the show. This is still cheaper than Wheels on the Waterfront in Bangor and the recent OOB show.

Thanks Steve

So It Really Matters Or Does It

As we all sit back and wonder where the season went, we realize it went, plain and simple. It's not really over until we say its over, as there is no Overseer that bangs a drum and says put your car away.

This weekend we get a Show in Winterport on Saturday and a Show in New Hampshire.

The Winterport Show, Shine and Drag has been reported as being worth the effort to get there and if the weather cooperates it promises to be another great day. Registration 8-11a, $5 per show car. Judging 9-12. Awards at 2p. Racing all day. Many classes of cars. Rain Date October 9th. FMI contact Bob Reynolds at (207)223-5592.

Now over in the Sales Tax Free Zone we have the Stratham Hill Car Show. Put on the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 185 this has also been reported as a good show. With 27 classes that include Tuners and 2 classes labeled as "Pure Stock" and a $7.00 entry fee it to could be worth the trip to Stratham. Reportedly there is a group leaving from the Charlie Beigg's Parking Lot in Windham at 6:30am for the trip down.

If your vehicle was special enough to get picked for the Super Wheels Showdown congratulations and have fun in Boston this weekend. Maine will be well represented with driven vehicles hopefully showing up the fleet of Trailer Queens that were picked elsewhere.

A N F B

The Frozen Raisins are back and still not thawed out.

Today was Durham, the 17th edition of the Athletic Boosters Car Show put on by the Yankee Cruisers. With the help of a few other clubs, they pulled off a good show. Stan and Cheryl and the Merrill Family did a good job getting it on the the new field, with Black Pavement being the new Green Grass.

Problems? Why yes.

The incident at the gate was unfortunate and can be summed up as this. Principles and integrity are worth more than any $15.00 Cheap Ass Trophy. The guys Classing Cars are not perfect and do make mistakes. They should still get the backing of the organizer, verbatim. A N F B are not just letters on a hat or jacket. They stand for Absolutely No Fucking Bullshit and they were practiced today, PERFECTLY.

The DJ needs to be quiet and play Music. The ratio of music played verses the amount gums flapped would be good odds at a horse race. Way to many songs were interrupted with injections of prattle on state laws that couldn't be enforced.

If you needed the bathroom you needed a reservation or a 5 gallon bucket. Luckily the trees needed watering. Note to self, rent out hospital urinals next year.

Not enough help was a major factor with only one person at the registration table until just after 8am. Not enough people parking cars. Not enough Sunshine.

Things they had too much of, can start with too many solicitors. It's bad enough to solicit votes for your car but to enlist the little kids was over the line. I wouldn't vote for a politician that asks for my vote and it ain't gonna happen for you, not now or in the future.

Less classes and splitting the ballot would be a help to everyone and life goes on, we saw that it worked at Car Show 2010 on Saturday. Thinking that trying to please the masses is correct is in fact wrong ways thinking. Keep it as simple as possible and lets back off on the giveaways. Going to stand in line for the bathroom when it started and seeing it only halfway done 30 minutes later when I returned, made me think I was trapped in some sick version of Ground Hog Day. By the way hearing, that voice screech 837 for the 100,975,436 time is grounds for a psychological examination according to the State.

Now I know by the time some people get to this point they are thinking that I didn't like the show. I did, I had Fun, it was a good show. Some of this was out of the hands of the Yankee Cruisers, Some of it wasn't.

Tough day, Good Job.

And Now For......Something.......

What the hell is up with this weather. For the past week I thought my Testiticles were frozen raisins and today I get swamp ass. Talcum powder or thermal underwear, not both, thank you very much.

Car Show 2010 was a blast to see and participate in. For an "Under New Management" Car Show, it was well thought out and went rather smoothly from what I can tell. Just because Mr. Matthews is a close friend, I am not sugar coating this in the least. In fact I may be a bit to harsh in my pointing out the few flaws that I saw and the few that were pointed out to me.

The classes were good and some work is needed on a couple, but all in all they seemed appropriate. Heard a few Complaints on the Tri -Five Class but nothing a swift kick in the ass wouldn't have cured. Egos and Arrogance were hand in hand on some things but were handled with more aplomb than I could muster on a good day. Registration went smoothly but seemed a bit crowded when a couple of big fellas were in line. My size or bigger.

Balloting was good, nicely broken up and votes were counted quickly. The usual suspects bitched and moaned about it and quickly realized it could be the reason they didn't get an award (as usual) during the Award ceremony. Wah! Maybe if more shows took to the split system there would less buddy voting.

The best thing was the fact that the weather provided a great day. The Landing and Charlie Beigg's provided us with a great venue. Ken Matthews and the All Clubs Crew did a fine job. The $15.00 Cheap Ass Trophies were nowhere to be seen and tomorrow is another day.

Good Job.

What Happened???

The season is drawing to a close. This weekend is slated to be a busy weekend with a Saturday Show and a Sunday Show within 30 miles of each other.

The Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce show is slated to take place on Saturday the 25th. The Autumn Gold Show has been a good show in the past and for the area is a fine way to close out a short season. At $5.00 a car it proves that some Chamber of Commerce Shows are way over priced. this is not one of them. Call 207-667-8515 For More Info.

The Show I think that we all have been waiting for is Car Show 2010. Formerly held at the Windham Wal-Mart it is not the old Wal-Mart Show. After taking a year off, this Show has revamped classes and a new venue. Having moved to the Parking lots ( yes lots ) of the Landing Restaurant and Charlie Beigg's Dining & Spirits in Windham, who also are the major sponsors, will provide us with great parking and ample room to make this a great day. Scheduled for Saturday the 25th weather is not a factor as this is a rain or shine show. Besides, is another show providing such classes as British All and Monte Carlo All.

On Sunday is the 17th Annual Durham Car, Truck and Bike Show hosted by the Yankee Cruisers. With the weather putting a damper on last years show it looks like it might be better this year. Classes are abundant, give aways more so and the grounds much improved. With Archie, Stan, Cheryl and the rest of the Yankee Cruisers at the helm this is always a good time and a great show.

Only a few left after these so lets have some fun.
